VP Binay Pushing for Special Overseas Filipino Worker Bank

The Philippines Vice President Binay is supporting the call for the creation of an OFW Bank. The primary purpose of the bank is to help Filipino workers abroad save more money on the remittances they send home by charging less than existing commercial banks.

Currently, there have been complaints about commercial banks charging expensive remittance fee.

The government has seen this proposal advantageous as the OFW remittance grew by 7.9 percent in 2010 and is expected to grow by 8 percent this year.

The bulk of remittances came from the US, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Japan, the UK, United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Italy, Germany and Norway.

POEA Accepting Care Givers and Nurses to Japan

The POEA (Philippine Overseas Employment  Administration has issued Advisory No. 35 accepting applicants for jobs as Care Givers and Nurses to Japan. Their preference are people between the age of  20 to 35 years old.

This requirement is in cooperation with JICWELS (Japan International Cooperation of Welfare Services).

Last day of application is tomorrow January 6, 2011. So you better hurry and submit your application if you want to take advantage of this opportunity.

You can submit your documents at Manpower Registry Division, Ground Floor, POEA Building, EDSA corner Ortigas Avenue, Mandaluyong City or register online at their website at http://www.eregister.poea.gov.ph

Document Requirements are as follows: – A detailed resume with one piece 2×2 picture – College diploma (for caregiver applicant, diploma should be authenticated) – Transcript of Records – Valid PRC ID – Employment Certificates (for Nurse applicants) – Valid TESDA Certificate on Caregiving – Valid passport – Valid NBI Clearance (for travel abroad)
